Miami University and Cleveland Clinic Health Science and Wellness Facility
Cost $96,000,000
Size 165,000 SF
HEAPY provided the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design criteria services for Miami University’s health sciences facility. The project became a partnership with the Cleveland Clinic, bringing together several existing academic units related to health fields and the health industry. This $96 million facility combined health-related programs and equipment to foster efficient use of resources and encourage multidisciplinary collaboration.
The partnership between Miami and the Cleveland Clinic has expanded significantly, aligning with statewide priorities, healthcare workforce needs, and growing student interest. This collaboration has strengthened joint efforts in entrepreneurship, healthcare education, and nursing.
The new facility provides space for formal and informal learning, health sciences, the workplace, and building support. These spaces now consist of:
- Classrooms
- Labs
- Research
- Clinics
- Wellness
- Counseling
- Simulation
- Therapy
- Meeting Spaces
- Lounges
The Cleveland Clinic Health Sciences and Wellness facility is comprised of three wings, connected by a “wellness ribbon,” or corridor, connecting three academic programs and three clinics both figuratively and collaboratively.
The south wing houses Miami’s TriHealth employee and student health centers, the student counseling service, and the speech and hearing clinic.
The middle wing houses faculty and staff offices, inter-professional lounges, and research labs for speech pathology and audiology faculty.
The north wing houses three academic programs: speech pathology and audiology, the Oxford cohort for the BSN nursing program, and the new Master of Medical Science (MMSc)/Physician Associate studies program.
