Humphreys East Elementary School
United States Army Garrison Camp Humphreys | South Korea
As part of the ongoing expansion and modernization of United States Army Garrison (USAG) Camp Humphreys in South Korea, the U.S. Department of Defense developed new educational facilities to serve military families stationed at the installation. The approximately 99,000-square-foot Humphreys East School was designed to accommodate 600 students in grades K-12, providing a modern learning environment supported by reliable, secure, and adaptable technology infrastructure.
HEAPY provided information and communication technology (ICT) design services in accordance with Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Educational Facilities Specifications. The scope included structured telecommunications cabling, vertical cable infrastructure, wireless networking, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), interactive classroom technology, and online backup systems. HEAPY also designed integrated communications systems, including clocks, paging, intercom, mass notification, and sound reinforcement, along with electronic access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and police alarm systems to support building-wide security and perimeter protection.
In addition, HEAPY supported cybersecurity design and specifications for building control systems in accordance with UFC 4-010-06, including the development of security control assessment procedures under CNSS 1253. Working closely with network facilitators and installation IT personnel, HEAPY coordinated technology and cybersecurity requirements to support Department of Defense standards and the school’s operational needs.
Through this comprehensive approach, HEAPY helped establish a secure, connected, and technology-enabled educational environment designed to support students, educators, and military families while accommodating evolving instructional and infrastructure needs.
