This year’s Solar Decathlon Design Challenge was a “virtual” competition “at NREL in Golden, CO.” Miami University’s two student teams competed among 45 finalist teams representing 36 universities from around the globe. HEAPY followed our Corporate Vision of Building a More Resilient and Sustainable Society and provided mentoring to Miami University’s teams; a Residential and a Multi-use Multi-Family. The Residential Team placed FIRST in their division. They moved on to compete against two other first place teams and were recognized as the Grand Winner!
HEAPY colleagues that provided mentoring of the project submission include: Gary Eodice, Jeremy Fauber, Evan Hatfield and Matt Sciarretti.
HEAPY has played an integral role in this National competition, with Miami University placing the past three years. The competition continues to push the envelope on the design of the most highly performing, efficient, affordable, innovative buildings. The competition leverages opportunities to showcase innovation and STEM education, while fostering workforce development opportunities.
