Federal
Every federal project carries with it a profound responsibility — to support and enhance the critical operations that keep our nation secure and thriving.
At HEAPY, we embrace this responsibility with unwavering dedication. With our extensive experience and innovative approach, we provide tailored engineering solutions that respect the past while building for the future. Our team’s commitment to your mission ensures that every facility we touch is optimized for resilience, efficiency, and operational excellence.
Comprehensive & Versatile Services
HEAPY has successfully executed more than 900 mission critical projects for our federal partners, including the Department of Defense (DoD), NASA, the General Service Administration, and the National Guard. We offer comprehensive MEP, fire protection, and technology engineering planning and design, as well as building optimization services, for facilities ranging from laboratories and research facilities to barracks and armories.
Our team can address the full spectrum of federal project needs such as Design-Build RFP preparation, facility and site assessments, planning charrettes, and full design and construction period services. Our ability to deliver tailored solutions for diverse facility types makes us a versatile and reliable partner.
Fluency in Federal Regulations and Procedures
Projects critical to operational readiness require partners who understand the unique challenges and stringent requirements for Department of Defense facilities. Our expertise in Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Intelligence Community Directives (ICD-705), and other federal guidelines ensures all projects exceed compliance standards, offering peace of mind to stakeholders.
At Fort Campbell, HEAPY worked closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to construct two 100,000 SF hangars for servicing rotary-wing aircraft. Our ability to speak the language of compliance ensured precise coordination with AT&T, USASOC, and the Fort Campbell Communications Group, minimizing operational downtime and improving collaboration with project stakeholders.
Our deep understanding of federal facility design criteria and requirements enables us to actively shape project scopes and outcomes, fostering a collaborative process that aligns with our clients’ visions and goals.
We Value Our Partners
HEAPY actively forges strategic partnerships with small and diverse businesses, as well as other engineering disciplines, to provide greater value for our federal clients. In addition, our team has extensive experience executing task orders under IDIQ contracts and collaborating with partners to deliver large-scale design-build projects, often executing multiple simultaneous projects. Our long-standing partnerships allow our team to scale and pivot as needed to deliver projects on time and on budget.
At the heart of our approach is a commitment to communication, collaboration, and mutual respect, which leads to better outcomes for design and construction projects. We prioritize relationships and problem-solving, to the benefit of the entire design team.
Sustainable Design, Energy, Resiliency, and Conservation (ERCIP)
An intimate familiarity with the High Performance and Sustainable Building Requirements (UFC 1-200-02) allows HEAPY to focus on energy efficiency and resiliency from onset of design. This leads to high-performance and sustainable buildings that enhance DoD mission capability by reducing total ownership costs.
Our team also provides sustainable design solutions to support Energy Resilience Conservation Investment Program (ERCIP) projects, including:
- renewable energy systems,
- microgrid studies and design,
- existing facility optimization (energy audits, retro-commissioning),
- greenhouse gas emissions inventories
- environmental materiality assessments
- net zero planning,
- energy modeling, combined heat and power (CHP) systems.
Our team leverages our expertise in sustainable engineering planning and design to support federal agencies as they seek to reduce energy costs, improve facility resiliency, and enhance environmental stewardship.
