UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Health Stephens Greth Tower
Project Detail:
Cost $5 Billion
Size 4.5 million SF
Markets:
UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Health are developing a transformative pediatric campus in Dallas’ Southwestern Medical District that will redefine care delivery for one of the fastest-growing regions in the country. The $5 billion, 4.5-million-square-foot campus, located near Harry Hines Boulevard and Mockingbird Lane, will replace the existing Children’s Medical Center Dallas and is planned to open in 2031. The development includes the new Stephens Greth Tower with more than 550 beds, expanded surgical and emergency services, and a Level I trauma center designed to support advanced pediatric care, research, and education.
As part of this landmark development, HEAPY is providing MEP engineering design services for a new campus substation, while HEAPY Solutions is delivering engineer-led design-build construction services. The substation serves as critical infrastructure that supports the campus’s reliability, resilience, and long-term operational performance. The design addresses the significant electrical demand of a large-scale academic medical campus, ensuring continuous power for mission-critical systems, including patient care environments, surgical suites, and research facilities.
HEAPY’s integrated approach aligns engineering design with constructability, enabling seamless coordination between design and field execution. The substation is designed to enhance system redundancy, support future campus expansion, and provide a resilient backbone for a healthcare environment that cannot tolerate downtime. By combining technical expertise with a construction-focused delivery model, HEAPY supports Children’s Health and UT Southwestern in advancing a next-generation pediatric campus that prioritizes reliability, scalability, and uninterrupted care for patients and families.
