Sinclair Community College eLearning CTL Innovations Lab Production Studio
Cost $2,000,000
Size 10,275 SF
HEAPY provided professional engineering design and field observation services for the plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical systems, and technology infrastructure associated with the eLearning CTL Innovations Lab Production Studio. The project created a combined renovated space on the third floor of Building 4, allowing for the relocation of the eLearning Department, the Center for Teaching and Learning Department (CTL), and the Production Studio, as well as the installation of a new Innovation Lab.
The new space includes hoteling spaces, multifunction workstations, maker spaces, conference rooms, private offices, as well as a production studio, lounge, flex, storage, and locker spaces. The project will improve collaboration and education opportunities by collocating these groups into a shared space.
Our MEP+T design services focused on efficiently reusing existing major systems and infrastructure to optimize project resources and minimize disruptions. The project involved a comprehensive MEP design for a renovated space, utilizing existing systems where feasible. The HVAC design ensured proper heating, cooling, ventilation, and exhaust systems, relying on existing equipment to meet updated code requirements for fresh air. The electrical design covered power distribution, interior lighting, fire alarm systems, and lighting controls, with provisions for supporting production and studio spaces, including the use of an existing generator if applicable. The plumbing design included the demolition of existing piping in the designated areas. Additionally, the technology design covered network cabling for low-voltage systems, with coordination of conduits and pathways in collaboration with the project team.
Careful construction timing and phasing were leveraged to minimize disruptions to adjacent occupied spaces.
