HEAPY is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology engineering design for the expansion of mental health, behavioral health, and detox services at the Montgomery County Jail. The project includes alternation and renovations to incorporate the addition of medical treatment space, behavioral health units, suicide prevention cells, suicide prevention netting, designated detox holding areas, and an improved intake and booking area.
Upgrades to booking and intake areas include:
- Fingerprinting for juveniles
- Reconfiguring adult booking
- Addition of pre-trial services counter
- Improved female holding cell
Expanded medical, detox, and mental health unit will include:
- Expanded medical office area
- Expanded medical clinic/treatment area
- Expanded medical cells with three-sided bed access (including two negative pressure cells)
- Addition of two padded crisis cells
- Addition of 28 beds for women’s mental/behavioral health, and detox
- Addition of 40 beds for men’s detox
- Addition of 21 beds for men’s mental health
- Addition of 16 observation unit beds
Second floor step-down unit will include new beds (approximately 250), two exam rooms, two storage rooms, two counseling rooms, and a juvenile holding cell.
Additional enhancements will include the addition of anti-suicide netting to all mezzanine levels, the addition of food ports to existing cell doors, modernization and updates to elevator systems, a new employee entrance, updated LED lighting and controls, and upgrades to the HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems to support the expansion and renovation. Access control and security systems will be upgraded as well and integrated into the existing system.
