Lytle Park Hotel

HEAPY provided engineering design, LEED program management, and LEED Fundamental Commissioning services for the renovation and addition of the Marriott Lytle Park Hotel.

In 2022, the hotel was ranked No. 71 among the Top 100 Hotels in the World and No. 5 among the top 15 city hotels in the continental U.S. by Travel + Leisure.

The boutique concept hotel overlooks Lytle Park in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, and features 106 rooms, two suites, as well as a glass atrium, expansive lobby, and a restaurant on the first floor. The renovation restores and preserves two historic buildings, honoring their important place in the community, while creating a unique offering of an open kitchen restaurant that features market-style items to go, a private dining room overlooking Lytle Park, and a lobby and lounge with bar.

Commissioned systems included mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and lighting controls, as well as stairwell pressurization and elevator hoistways.

HISTORIC RENOVATION AND ADAPTIVE REUSE

The renovation included an addition that joined two historic buildings into one complex, preserving the interior aesthetic and architecture while upgrading to more modern, efficient building systems. The project protected the historic Anna Louise and Pike Building in the Lytle Park Historic District and was carefully designed to maintain and preserve the cultural and character-defining features of the building. Changes suggested and mandated by the Historic Conservation Board were incorporated to maintain the historic character of the project buildings and site.

SUSTAINABILITY

The project is LEED Silver Certified and performs 18% more efficient than a comparable baseline facility. Reusing the existing building, on a previously developed piece of land in downtown Cincinnati uses embodied energy and carbon, while preventing additional carbon emissions from the construction of a completely new building.
