The comprehensive district-wide program for Troy City Schools, includes the construction of four new PK-6 elementary school buildings, a phased renovation of the existing high school, and the abatement and demolition of multiple existing school facilities. HEAPY is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology design services to support the district’s goal of delivering efficient, modern learning environments. All new buildings are being delivered using the Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) project delivery method and are designed to meet LEED Silver certification standards. The school district has opted not to include storm shelters in the new school designs.
- West Elementary (Concord site): A new 64,957 SF PK-4 facility for 554 students
- East Elementary (Cookson site): A new 63,162 SF PK-4 facility for 536 students
- North Elementary (Hook site): A new 63,066 SF PK-4 facility for 535 students
- South Elementary (Swailes Road): A new 87,217 SF 5-6 facility for 677 students
Each of the four new elementary schools includes funding allowances for potential building and site enhancements as part of a district-held locally funded initiative (LFI) totaling $15 million.
The project also includes a multi-phased renovation and abatement of the existing 237,430 SF Troy High School. Work will be accomplished utilizing a multi-phased renovation operation to allow work to occur in select areas of the facility and relocating the population to other areas of the facility allowing the facility to always remain in operation. The renovation is scheduled from May 2025 through May 2027.
Following occupancy of the new elementary schools, existing facilities will be abated and demolished or abated only, depending on their final use. Demolition includes Hook, Cookson, Concord, Heywood, Kyle, and Van Cleve Elementary Schools. Forest Elementary will be abated only.
