HEAPY provided comprehensive engineering planning and design services for the $355 million expansion and modernization of the Mount Carmel Health Grove City campus, also the headquarters for Mount Carmel’s Graduate Medical Education program, which features:
- New 7-story, 500,000 SF, 210-room hospital with all private patient rooms
- New 5-story, 120,000 SF medical office building connected to the hospital, offering primary care, maternal-fetal medicine, outpatient oncology (first-floor cancer center), and women’s health services
- Modernized facilities designed to engage patients and their families, from easy-to-navigate pathways throughout the facility to bistro-style dining and on-demand room service
- Expanded emergency department with 8 new state-of-the-art surgical suites for inpatient/outpatient surgeries, featuring intensive care, maternity, oncology, and palliative care services
The first floor of the new MOB consists of an approximately 22,000 SF CANCER CENTER with both radiation oncology treatment and medical oncology treatment service lines. There is 1 linear accelerator vault with space for a second. Also included are a CT simulator, HDR vault, 18 infusion bays, 12 exam rooms, retail space, and associated support spaces.
HEAPY also designed the systems for a 37,000 SF FREE STANDING EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, featuring full service, 24/7 emergency care. The facility has full diagnostic imaging capability, such as MRI and CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds, mammography and bone density scanning. These imaging services support the emergency department as well as outpatient care. HEAPY provided Structured Cabling (Voice/Data/CATV), a Distributed Antenna System, WLAN, a Nurse Call System and Electronic Safety and Security (Electronic Access Control, Panic Duress & Closed Circuit Television System) Design for the freestanding emergency department. A Telecommunications Grounding/Bonding Design was also provided in accordance with TIA/EIA 607A.
