Mercy Health Jewish Hospital
HEAPY provided Mechanical-Electrical Design services for the $80,000,000 expansion project at Jewish Hospital in Kenwood. The new cutting-edge facility adds 186,000 SF to The Jewish Hospital, making it a more patient-friendly campus by addressing the safety and comfort needs of aging patients and offering all private rooms, equipped with smart technology. In addition to a more welcoming design and layout for patients and families, the renewal project includes an expanded and more efficient emergency department.
About 32,000 SF of the hospital’s existing interior was renovated, part of which involves filling in the atrium of the hospital to create additional floor space. Other upgrades and new construction include the emergency department, intensive care unit, blood and marrow transplant center, orthopedic unit, cardiology, neuroscience and Medical Education Center, including its auditorium. In keeping with their dedication to advanced heart care, the Heart Institute at The Jewish Hospital created a new open-heart surgery suite and a hybrid operating room.
The third floor of the new tower is dedicated to cancer services, including the Blood Cancer Center, where clinicians care for patients with any blood cancer or disorder.
Infusion Clinic
HEAPY is also performing a complete renovation to Mercy Health Jewish Hospital’s Infusion Clinic. The work includes a new mechanical room to allow for the back feed of the existing system with the new located AHU-02 on the roof above, new duct mains, new VAVs, new electrical and power lighting, etc. The project will also include a medical gas system renovation that includes local pipe run outs and new zone valve control and area alarms, making the entire system upgraded including the bulk oxygen system, medical vacuum, and air to provide adequate capacity for the new patient tower and renovation work.
An AHU-2 replacement is being done to the Jewish Hospital that will involve removing the existing AHU-2 and install new AHU-2 with desiccant wheel and the back feed of ductwork to connect to the existing ductwork system located on the roof outside of the mechanical penthouse above the existing unit location. HEAPY will include the routing of utilities to the new AHU.
As America’s first Jewish teaching hospital, The Jewish Hospital is investing in its Graduate Medical Education (GME) program with new facilities. The residency program, which offers training in internal medicine, surgery and podiatry, prepares physicians to care for the whole person.
