Dayton Children’s Hospital Beerman Simulation Center

Dayton Children’s Hospital transformed an existing office space into a new simulation center to provide advanced on-site training and development for nurses, EMS professionals, and other healthcare practitioners. This high-tech computer-based training and simulation center allows healthcare professionals to practice responding to scenarios in a realistic and safe environment, ultimately improving the quality of care received by patients.

Located on the main campus on the second floor of the Beerman building, the simulation center includes training and observation for ambulance/EMS, emergency department, intensive care unit, inpatient rooms, and clinic/family spaces. In addition, the project renovated adjacent spaces, including offices, supply rooms, staff lounge and meeting rooms to allow for debriefing after participants complete simulation training.

HEAPY provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, technology, lighting, and fire protection design services for the project. Building infrastructure systems were reconfigured and upgraded to tie into the existing systems. All lighting fixtures and controls were upgraded to allow for improved energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
