HEAPY designed the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the City of Cincinnati’s new fire station, and also provided LEED Program Management and Fundamental Commissioning services for the City’s first LEED certified project.
The fire station includes a kitchen, dining area, training room, sleeping quarters, exercise room, day room, EMS storage, dispatch alarm room, and 911 alarm room.
Sustainable Features
Water use reduction, horizontal sunscreens to reduce HVAC loads, light pollution reduction, 15% better than current energy code, construction waste management, both daylight and viewpoints, and operable windows.
The station also has an overhead radiant heating system, zoned rooftop air-handling unit, lighting occupancy controller, commercial range hood, and emergency generator—all placed on a very tight site location.
