HEAPY is providing design and construction phase Green Globes Commissioning of the MEP, technology, and emergency power systems for Central Virginia VA Health Care’s new outpatient clinic. Located in Fredericksburg, VA, the new clinic will be the nation’s largest ever built when completed in 2024. Located on a 48-acre site, the four-story facility features a healing garden, a veterans memorial, and additional greenspace to create a healing therapeutic environment. The clinic offers primary care, imaging, pharmacy, mental health, ambulatory surgery, and specialty care (pulmonary, gastroenterology, pain management, cardiology, dermatology, audiology, neurology, physical therapy).

HEAPY has completed the design phase of commissioning, providing clarity for AHU louver orientation to ensure relief air is not directly impacting outside air for ventilation air quality and economizer performance on adjacent units. HEAPY also addressed location issue with water flow meters for energy measuring in locations that would have led to poor quality readings.

COLLABORATION

Collaboration was a top priority, so a web-based management tool, CxAlloy TQ, was used to track, document, and provide regular status updates. HEAPY also published the construction checklist early, allowing the General Contractor to review and suggest a similar but different process that was more familiar to the team. Our willingness to share information, collaborate, and accommodate different preferences made the project run much more smoothly and provided an environment focused on shared responsibility and accountability.
