Ball State University Performing Arts Center

Cost $55,000,000
Size 65,000 SF
Ball State University is transforming its near-campus Village neighborhood into a vibrant arts and cultural destination anchored by a new on-campus Performing Arts Center. The facility will include two public performance spaces for theater, dance, and community events, serving the University’s Department of Theatre and Dance while also welcoming local schools and arts organizations.
As the catalyst for The Village revitalization, the Performing Arts Center will help establish a best-in-class, multigenerational district that celebrates arts, culture, and innovation. Surrounding developments will include a boutique hotel along with new dining, retail, residential, and gathering spaces designed to foster year-round activity and engagement. Once complete, the Performing Arts Center is expected to host more than 160 performances annually and attract over 35,000 visitors to The Village each year.
The broader Village project supports Ball State’s goals to strengthen connections between the campus and downtown Muncie, create a dynamic environment that attracts and retains students and employees, and enhance the University’s role as an economic driver for the greater Muncie and Delaware County communities. By improving housing, commercial opportunities, and cultural amenities near campus, the revitalization aims to encourage more graduates to build their futures in Muncie.
