HEAPY has announced the promotion of John O’Brien to serve as Chief Engineering & Technology Officer (CETO), chosen for his technical expertise, focus on innovation, and dedication to ensuring company success, security, and longevity.
“In the past decade, technology and innovation have transformed our industry, offering enormous opportunities for increased efficiency and innovation, but also increased risks and threats,” CEO Mark Brumfield said.
“As our new Chief Engineering & Technology Officer, John will work with our technical teams to ensure that we leverage new tools and techniques, while maintaining the integrity of our technology systems, digital assets, and proprietary information. His commitment to quality and constant improvement will serve him well in this new role.”
John will be responsible for protecting the company’s digital assets and systems to reduce risk and increase resilience. He will also contribute to overall company process improvement, including automation, new technology systems and software implementation, and technical training and resources for all HEAPY colleagues.

John is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in multiple states, a Data Center Energy Practitioner, and a LEED Accredited Professional. He previously served as the Engineering & Digital Strategy Director and is also a Senior Principal in the firm.
