HEAPY is proud to announce that Mechanical Engineer’s, Derek Shaw and Tyler Allen have successfully passed the Professional Engineer’s exam. Both earned their Professional Engineering License in the State of Ohio. PE licensure is the engineering profession’s highest standard of competence and quality, and the result of dedication and hard work!
About Our PE Licensed Colleagues
Derek joined HEAPY as a co-op while attending the Wright State University College of Engineering. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, he joined HEAPY full time. He designs building systems predominantly in the healthcare market including hospitals, ambulatory care centers, cancer centers, medical office buildings, emergency departments, labs, medical education, and senior living facilities. Derek’s design experience includes new and retrofit HVAC systems for chiller plants, DDC control systems, hot water plants, laboratories, etc. He is responsible for HVAC Design, including drawings, specifications, field assessments of existing systems and cost estimating. In his spare time, he coaches high school basketball and he enjoys golfing.
Tyler is a Mechanical Engineer in HEAPY’s Cleveland office. Tyler received his BSE in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Engineering Management from Case Western Reserve University. He has a passion for renewable energy and sustainability, whether green products, resilient infrastructure, or self-sustaining business practices. He has a broad range of experience including healthcare, laboratories, higher education facilities and large commercial office building systems. Outside of engineering, Tyler was a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and enjoys singing!
