Your Partner for Long-Term Success
We pride ourselves on being a trusted advisor to education clients, closely engaging with educators, administrators, and facility managers. By understanding diverse stakeholder needs, we deliver solutions to address immediate needs and support long-term planning for future growth and adaptability.
Through early involvement in master planning, our team will help outline project requirements and identify potential funding opportunities to help offset the cost of capital infrastructure projects. This proactive approach helps educational institutions make informed decisions that maximize value and reduce overall project costs.
By the Numbers
Serving Our Nation’s Heroes
Our team is committed to supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs mission to heal and care for those who served in our nation’s military, as well as their family and caregivers. Our work is critical to creating sustainable, resilient healthcare facilities that provide a place of respite and healing for veterans and their loved ones.
This focus drives our work. We prioritize high-quality design services and excellence in all we do. In fact, HEAPY is an ISO 9001 certified company, meaning that our design process adheres to a rigorous set of internal quality control and assurance standards.
Prioritizing Cost Control & Budget Adherence
HEAPY take a proactive and rigorous approach to manage budgets and meet stringent government funding requirements, maximizing value without compromising on quality. For every VA project, our team carefully examines the project budget and scope to ensure proper alignment. This provides early clarity and direction to the VA, which prevents issues down the road.
Through our strategic project planning and rigorous quality control, we also help the VA to minimize the risk of change orders and scheduling delays, because we know this can dramatically impact a project’s long-term viability.
Revitalizing Historic Spaces
Many VA facilities are registered as historic buildings, so preserving the cultural heritage and unique character of these sites is critical. At the same time, these aging facilities must be maintained and upgraded to provide state-of-the-art care for veterans and their families.
HEAPY specializes in the integration of modern infrastructure systems into historic VA buildings, respecting and preserving their legacy while enhancing their efficiency and functionality. Our team collaborates closely with facility managers and State Historic Preservation Offices to adapt VA buildings to meet contemporary needs. For example, our team has renovated multiple historic buildings at the Dayton VA Medical Center, including kitchen and food prep areas, mental health services facilities, and the site’s 1800’s era Putnam Library.
Building a Sustainable and Resilient Future
With more than 450 LEED certified projects under our belt, HEAPY is at the forefront of sustainable and resilient design. We advise and support our VA clients on how to comply with the Executive Order to Catalyze Clear Energy, providing comprehensive net zero planning services, and designing heat recovery chillers, solar PV installations, and EV charging stations to bolster campus electrification.
For every project, we seek to balance first cost and lifecycle cost, as well as impacts to human health and the environment. We collaborate with the VA and other stakeholders to find win-win solutions that improve energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and minimize environmental impact – ultimately preparing VA facilities to meet future challenges and environmental standards.
Empowering Veteran-Owned Small Businesses
HEAPY participates in the Small Business Administration’s Mentor-Protégé program – a crucial part of our commitment to support local, veteran-owned small businesses. Through this program, we leverage our time and expertise to help smaller firms become more successful and support our local economy.
In addition, the VA benefits from the diverse perspectives and capabilities of various partners, including service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSB) and other disadvantaged business enterprises (DBE).
