Women in Green
USGBC Indiana Session

1 AIA LU/HSW, GBCI CE

Join USGBC Indiana for an energizing Pre-Summit breakfast where community voices take center stage to share powerful stories. Women in Green is a platform for women and allies to connect across generations and disciplines—sharing insights and ideas that spark change in the built environment and beyond. Guided by our theme, “Rooted & Rising,” we’ll engage in a dynamic panel and interactive small group discussions to elevate authentic voices that shape the future of our movement.

Doors open at 7:45 am. The event starts at 8:00 am. We encourage you to stay and continue to learn and share at the Indiana Innovation and High Performance Summit (separate registration is required). Please note a light breakfast is included in this event.

AM EDUCATION SESSION - Track 1
9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Designing a More Efficient & Higher Quality Patient – Centered Healthcare Delivery Facilities Model
ACHE of Indiana Session

Pending ACHE In-Person*, 1.5 AIA LU/HSWs, GBCI LEED Specific (BD+C, O+M) CEs, PDHs

Evidence-based design (EBD) applies credible research to shape healthcare facility environments, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients while enhancing the built environment’s functionality. Historically, many healthcare facilities were designed with a primary focus on provider workflows, often neglecting the patient’s needs and unintentionally creating inefficiencies. With advancements in technology and research, healthcare providers now have access to proven strategies for creating facilities that balance efficiency and patient-centered care.

AM EDUCATION SESSION - Track 2
9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Smart Money, Smarter Buildings

1 AIA LU/HSW, GBCI LEED Specific (BD+C, O+M, ID+C) CE, PDH

As the push for resilient, energy-efficient, and sustainable buildings grows, so does the need for smart financial strategies to support them. This session will explore the critical intersection of capital and construction, examining the financial mechanisms, risk-mitigation tools, and infrastructure planning that enable high-performance building outcomes.

Attendees will gain insight into innovative funding models, including utility incentives, tax credits, and green bonds that can drive project feasibility. The conversation will also highlight how the insurance industry is adapting to climate-driven hazard risks—and how certified high-performance buildings are being recognized for their ability to reduce exposure. Finally, the session will examine how utility providers are planning for increased demand and where high-performance buildings can reduce strain and offer grid-level benefits.

Ideal for owners, developers, and design professionals, this session equips attendees with actionable knowledge to align sustainable goals with smart investments.

Getting Down to Business: Decarbonization and Resiliency

1.5 AIA LU/HSWs, GBCI LEED Specific (BD+C, O+M) CEs, PDHs

Join us for an insightful exploration into “The Changing Landscape of Buildings,” where we discuss crucial aspects reshaping the future of construction and architecture. This session will cover the latest advancements in sustainable building practices, focusing on key elements such as LEED v5, decarbonization strategies, funding hubs, and resilient design principles.

Throughout the session, we will draw on real-world case studies, showcasing successful implementations of LEED v5, decarbonization strategies, and resilient design principles. Participants will glean practical insights and best practices from these examples, providing a roadmap for integrating sustainability into their own projects.

PM EDUCATION SESSION - Track 1
1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Designing for Safety – Integrating Innovation in Healthcare’s Built Environment
ACHE of Indiana Session

Pending ACHE In-Person*, 1.5 AIA LU/HSWs, GBCI LEED Specific (BD+C, O+M) CEs, PDHs

In an era of evolving healthcare challenges, the built environment plays a crucial role in ensuring patient safety, operational efficiency, and resilience. This panel brings together healthcare executives, engineers, architects, safety professionals, and builders to explore innovative strategies for designing and maintaining safe, adaptable, and future-ready healthcare facilities. Panelists will discuss best practices in infection control, emergency preparedness, sustainable design, and technology integration, highlighting how collaboration across disciplines can enhance safety and patient outcomes.

*This program has been developed and is presented locally by ACHE of Indiana.

PM EDUCATION SESSION - Track 2
1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
LEED v5: Myth vs Reality

1 AIA LU/HSW, GBCI LEED Specific (BD+C, O+M) CE, PDH

As the building industry advances toward more rigorous sustainability and performance standards, LEED v5 represents a significant evolution in green building certification. This session will break down what’s new, what’s misunderstood, and what it means for project teams navigating the transition.

Attendees will explore the fundamental role third-party verification systems—such as LEED—play in shaping sustainable design and construction practices. The session will provide an overview of the structure and intent of the LEED v5 BD+C rating system, demystify the three core system goals, and clarify how projects can align with these outcomes. Participants will also compare the updates in LEED v5 against previous versions (v4 and v4.1), gaining insight into how the latest version responds to emerging priorities like climate action, equity, and resilience.

Whether you’re new to LEED or transitioning your practice to v5, this session will equip you with the clarity and confidence to deliver impactful, certified projects.
