Scott is the Managing Partner at Hubay Dougherty, bringing over 15 years of legal and hands-on experience to his practice. Scott specializes in leveraging the Inflation Reduction Act and the federal tax code to make clean energy and energy efficiency projects profitable for his clients. His expertise spans clean energy law, environmental law, tax law, and real estate law. Additionally, Scott provides nonprofit corporate governance services, which are crucial for maximizing the IRA’s direct pay benefits and helping organizations operate more efficiently and effectively.
Since founding Hubay Dougherty in 2016, Scott has represented a diverse range of clients, including clean energy and energy efficiency engineering design firms, environmental and energy nonprofit advocacy organizations, nature conservancies, green banks, and governmental entities.
Scott’s greatest strength lies in his ability to connect the dots between existing solutions, combining them into innovative strategies tailored to his clients’ unique needs and challenges. Scott is an active member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, the Energy Bar Association, the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources, and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). He has also served on the boards of consumer utility advocacy organizations and arts nonprofits.
