Michael brings two decades of expertise in sustainable building design and construction, currently serving as Integration Leader and co-leader of HEAPY’s Innovation Lab. In this role, he anticipates future client needs and integrates cutting-edge solutions into everyday design practices, positioning HEAPY at the forefront of industry evolution.

As a leader, Michael champions teamwork, individual growth, and authentic collaboration. His comprehensive experience spans the entire building lifecycle—from initial concepts through construction documents, commissioning, certification, and ongoing operations. This holistic perspective enables him to identify opportunities and drive innovation across all project phases.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton and is both a licensed Professional Engineer and USGBC LEED Accredited Professional. His technical expertise encompasses LEED project administration, energy analysis, sustainable design standards, and HVAC design. As a key member of HEAPY’s Sustainable Design LEED Coordination Committee, he helped develop the company’s internal LEED processes and documentation systems.

His project portfolio includes educational facilities, office buildings, and laboratories, with experience in ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Energy Cost Budget Method, energy code applications, and comprehensive energy audits. Michael has been instrumental in advancing eco-charrettes and sustainable design coordination across diverse project types.

Currently, Michael is leading HEAPY’s commitment to the MEP 2040 Challenge, working to achieve net zero operational carbon designs by 2030 and net zero whole life carbon designs by 2040. His focus on “what’s next in the built environment” drives continuous innovation and ensures HEAPY remains ahead of evolving industry demands.
