Ebiji is a Senior Project Engineer at SMBH Inc., a structural engineering firm based in Columbus, Ohio. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University with a focus on Structures. Ebiji is currently a Board member of the Structural Engineering Association of Ohio and serves as co-chair of the organization’s Sustainable Design Committee. Ebiji believes in harmonizing with people’s visions by integrating sustainable design practices: early collaboration, aligned goals, and an emphasis on the design process can lead to holistic solutions that build a better world.

Today, Ebiji is representing SE 2050, a Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) organization striving to become a one-stop shop for guiding structural engineers toward net-zero embodied carbon structural systems by 2050. Their mission is to transform the practice of structural engineering in a way that is holistic, firm-wide, project-based, and data-driven.

Ebiji learned about SE 2050 at the end of 2021 and has since dedicated himself to understanding and discussing sustainability concepts. By the end of 2023, SMBH committed to the SE 2050 challenge. As of January 2026, Ebiji has become SMBH’s first official Sustainability Lead, tasked with assessing environmental impacts of structural engineering to inform, design, and implement process improvements and enhance project performance.
