Derek joined HEAPY as a key member of our Building Optimization Practice. Previously, he worked in the A|E|C industry for an automation systems company, providing innovative building management solutions that maximize energy efficiency while ensuring occupant comfort.

Working as the owner’s representative, Derek manages several Commissioning projects where he is responsible for all acceptance testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and studies/technical documents. He performs inspections and testing of building envelopes; primarily the thermal and air barriers, utilizing thermography.

The Commissioning process verifies that the mechanical and electrical systems specified in the construction documents, work as designed and allow the building owner to realize the benefits of improved occupant comfort, increased energy efficiency, and reduced building operation and maintenance costs.
