Alania was elected in 2024 to serve Indiana House District 29, representing portions of Fishers and Noblesville in Hamilton County. She serves on the House committees for Government and Regulatory Reform, Public Policy, Utilities, Energy, and Telecommunications.

In addition to her legislative role, Shonkwiler is a business development associate with Garmong Construction. Her background includes experience in government consulting with Katz, Sapper & Miller and serving as district director for U.S. Representative Victoria Spartz.
