Grandview Medical Center

Project Overview

AHU7 Replacement Project

Heapy Solutions provided a turnkey air handling unit replacement for Grandview Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. This included the design, bidding, permit, management, commissioning and construction. The project included removal of a 30-year-old air handling unit and the installation of a new 13,000 CFM 100% outside air unit in the basement of the hospital. The replacement included new piping, ductwork, controls, electrical and a variable frequency drive on the supply fan. Old pneumatic controls were replaced with a new Automated Logic DDC system that has graphic interface and remote monitoring.

The project was coordinated and configured into a tight location in the basement. It was completed under budget with high owner satisfaction and no requested scope changes. The temperature controls on this AHU now allows the hospital to remotely monitor the unit operation and receive critical alarms at their remote monitoring station. Commissioning of the project resolved several operational issues and delivered a reliable unit operation.

Planning for the New Normal
Plumbing Systems Re-Occupancy and Ongoing Operations

Your building may have been shut down these past many months due to WFH/COVID. Minimal use of your building’s water systems creates stagnant water in your plumbing system piping and equipment, which promotes the growth of Legionella and/or other biofilm-associated bacteria. This places your building occupants at risk when re-occupancy occurs. Now is the time to develop and implement a safe and effective Water Management Plan to protect your building occupants, maximizing their health and safety upon re-occupancy.
