Best In Class

In recognition of the best-in-class facility at Premier Health’s Miami Valley Hospital South, HEAPY’s Building Optimization Practice Director, Ryan Hoffman, joined Dayton Power and Light in presenting the Hospital a $140,000 energy efficiency rebate check.  Since 2012, the facility has received nearly $350,000 in rebates associated their strong commitment to energy efficiency.

Using a comprehensive energy model to influence design decisions, Miami Valley Hospital South’s recently completed 156,000 SF addition is expected to save about 1,300,000 kilowatts of electricity annually, resulting in an estimated $500,000 in avoided utility costs over the next 10 years.

This savings is a result of:

  • LED lighting throughout, paired with lighting controls systems and sensors to turn off lights when possible.
  • Improved HVAC system performance, verified by a thorough commissioning process.
  • Improved insulation values in walls, roof, and windows.
