On Friday, February 11, an energy focused conference, Ohio Leads the Way: Green Markets and Green Jobs will be held at the Dayton Convention Center.

Michael Berning will be moderating and presenting as part of a four person panel that includes Sinclair Community College's Director of Facility Management, Woody Woodruff and Elements IV Interior's President & CEO, Mark Williams.  Their topic of discussion is "Why Green Building Makes Sense."

The event is being hosted by Green Energy Ohio and the Dayton Development Coalition and is being sponsored by Dayton Power & Light, the Ohio Department of Development and OSU Extension.

Heapy Engineering will be presenting on November 16, 2010 at the CSI Dayton-Miami Valley Chapter's Ron Woeste Construction Products Show at the Presidential Banquet Center in Kettering, Ohio.  The event runs from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM.

Matthew Herbert, CEM, LEED Green Associate and Frank Mauro, PE, CCP, LEED AP BD+C will be speaking from 4:30 - 5:30 PM on Energy Conservation and Retro-Commissioning.

"An increased awareness in the United States regarding the importance of energy conservation continues to evolve the way we design, build and retrofit buildings.  Attendees of this presentation will understand how codes and standards are shifting all projects to become high performance / high energy efficient projects.  In addition attendees will gain insight on incentives to address sustainability in existing buildings and the benefits of implementing a retro-commissioning program."

OSU Sustainability Plan Team selected to present at AASHE Conference

The project team of Heapy Engineering, Mithun and Yudelson Associates along with OSU has been selected to present at the October 10-12th, Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Conference in Denver, CO.   

The focus of the OSU Sustainability Plan effort is to identify synergistic solutions and re-write the University's design standards to create a more sustainable campus consistent with the University's mission and climate change targets.  Additionally, the team is producing The Ohio State University's Climate Action Plan to comply with the requirements of the American College and University President's Climate Committment.

For those who missed Jerry Yudelson's presentation, "Greening Your Existing Building," at the Dayton Green Expo, Heapy Engineering will be offering another opportunity to see it on September 22 from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM.

The seminar's presenter, Jerry Yudelson is a registered professional engineer with more than 25 years of experience and holds engineering degrees from Caltech and Harvard University as well as an MBA (with highest honors) from the University of Oregon. 

Jerry is a former board member of the U.S. Green Building Council and chaired the annual Greenbuild conference from 2004 through 2009.  As an active participant in the USGBC, Jerry Yudelson has trained more than 3,500 people in the LEED green building rating system since 2001 and was one of the original LEED trainers for the USGBC. 

Jerry is the author of 12 books on green buildings, green homes and green development, including three released last year and one this year, Dry Run: Preventing the Next Urban Water Crisis.
