NCR Corp World Telecomputing Center
The project included the addition of a new exterior generator with weather protective, low dB housing with integral diesel fuel base tank (3000 gal.). Unit sized at 2000 KW, 277/480V-3PH-4W. The design included major additions and renovation to the facility’s electrical distribution system to provide standby power to the entire facility as well as complete redundancy of all electrical systems to maintain 24/7 operation in event of equipment failure or maintenance needs. The facility is NCR’s primary world data center for financial clients.
Components of the overall distribution include 4 – 1600A, closed transition automatic transfer switches, automated motorized breaker scheme to access either the new or existing generators, 1 – 1000 KVA UPS system, 1- 750 KVA UPS system, 3- static transfer switches and associated computer power distribution and entire building mechanical loads (chillers, pumps, etc.). Project will include extension of fuel line piping from an existing underground fuel tank to serve as a back-up fuel source to the new gen-set. A complete new power monitoring system also designed for system monitoring performance, capture of any transients, etc.
The project was completed in 2003 with a total construction cost of $1,600,000.
