Purdue University Rawls Hall LEED EB O+M
Rawls Hall houses the Krannert School of Management which includes 13 electronically equipped classrooms, a professional career center, a multimedia-based auditorium, 25 breakout rooms, distance learning facilities, and sophisticated computer labs.
Heapy Engineering provided LEED Program Management for Purdue University’s Rawls Hall in an effort to achieve LEED for Existing Buildings: Operation & Maintenance certification. The services also included an ASHRAE Level I energy audit to aid in reducing energy consumption and help to meet Purdue’s energy reduction goals.
Heapy Engineering worked with Purdue University students and staff to implement continuous sustainability improvement measures. Low-cost/no-cost energy efficiency initiatives were identified and implemented to improve the facility’s energy efficiency. In addition, Heapy assisted Purdue University in creating and implementing sustainability policies and tracking the LEED-EB Performance Period documentation.
To involve the Krannert’s Experiential Learning Initiative and Purdue’s EPICS program students in this project, Heapy began by extending an open invitation to the project’s Eco-Charrette. Heapy worked with the students to educate them on the LEED Rating System requirements and engage them by having the students research and document the most viable options of sustainability for the university, such as locally grown food, encouraging others to improve recycling measures, awareness of energy consumption, etc.
