Heapy Engineering designed the Mechanical-Electrical systems for the new 3 level, 129,540 SF Fitness and Recreation Complex. The main level consists of classrooms, four basketball/volleyball courts, 2 Multi-Activity Courts (Multi purpose flooring capable of providing activity space for floor hockey, soccer, in-line hockey, Lacrosse, tennis, aerobics, challenge rope course as well as basketball and volleyball), 3 Racquetball Courts with Glass back walls, Control Entry (Card Swipe), 25’ to 30’ Climbing Wall, Juice Bar, Student Lounge, Equipment/Towel check-out and Men/Women Locker Room.
There is also an eight lane Natatorium along with Vortex Leisure area, 1 meter diving board & Well, 12–15 person Whirlpool, Outdoor deck and Sand Volleyball Court.
The second level contains Administrative Offices, 1 Aerobics/Multi-Purpose Room (1,524 SF) and 1 Aerobics/Multi-Purpose Room (2,245 SF). The third level contains Cardiovascular (60 pieces), Selectorized Weight Machines (60 pieces), Free Weight Area (60 pieces), Wellness Assessment Office and 1/8 Mile Rubberized Track.
The project was completed in 2005 with a Mechanical-Electrical construction cost of $7,500,000 and a total construction cost of $25,340,000.
