Miami University Voice of America Learning Center
Heapy Engineering provided the design of the Mechanical-Electrical systems and technology design for the new 25,000 SF facility to service nontraditional student clientele including flexible classrooms, computer labs, conference rooms, lecture hall and administrative support areas. Each classroom/lab is fully wired for computer network and Internet access plus distance learning connections.
This multipurpose instructional facility offers graduate and undergraduate courses and programs, as well as customized training opportunities for business, industry, school districts, and government agencies.
The center supports more than 75 classes per week offered during daytimes, evenings, and weekends. Center facilities also are available to community groups for meetings, seminars, community forums, and other events, and Miami's Alumni Career Services will extend its operations to include the center.
The project was completed in 2009 with a total construction cost of $5,000,000 and a Mechanical-Electrical cost of $1,300,000.
