UC Health's West Chester Hospital Maternity
Heapy Engineering designed the Mechanical-Electrical systems and Technology systems for West Chester Hospital’s full service maternity unit and nursery, which focuses on enhanced patient experiences. The decision to build the new unit was made in response to the growing demand for maternity services.
The addition of maternity services to the West Chester Hospital campus complement the wide array of women’s services and programs that are presently offered. The third floor of the West Chester Hospital patient care tower accommodates the state-of-the-art birthing center. The maternity ward includes eight delivery suites, two Caesarean-section operating rooms and triage rooms. In addition, the adjacent nursery will function as a Level IIB neonatal intensive care unit.
Specifically, Heapy Engineering provided Structured Cabling (Voice/Data/CATV), WLAN, a Nurse Call System, Infant Abduction System, and Electronic Safety and Security (Electronic Access Control, Panic Duress & Closed Circuit Television System) Design for a build-out of Labor and Delivery Ward on an existing floor. A Telecommunications Grounding/Bonding Design was also provided in accordance with TIA/EIA 607A. All systems tied into existing equipment.
