Mercy Fairfield Hospital Patient Tower
This multi-phase project includes new heart operating facilities, heart catheterization labs, diagnostics, general in-patient care and intensive care unit. Renovation and expansion of the current emergency department, lobby/registration area and dining area are significant upgrades in the current scope. The facility more than doubled in size to over 480,000 SF.
To support these changes, the existing central plant was replaced and expanded, including a state of the art high pressure steam boiler plant and variable speed chilled water plant. A tunnel was constructed to connect the new plant utilities to the new addition, with support to carry not only steam and chilled water, but to also carry domestic water services, fire services, medical gases and communications. Provisions were also made for ease in running any future services through the tunnel and supports.
Additionally, Commissioning Services were provided for the new central plant that serves both the new and existing facilities.
The project was completed in 2006 with a total construction cost of $56,000,000.
