Heapy Engineering Selected to Manage DP&L Utility Incentive Program

DP&L's Retro-Commissioning Offering Generates an 18% ROI for their Customers!

Heapy Engineering was selected via a competitive bid process to fully implement and manage the Dayton Power & Light Retro-Commissioning (RCx) offering, a 2017 addition to DP&L's multitude of energy efficiency incentive programs. Fourteen buildings across nine customer entities participated during the first year, with facility types such as hospitals, high-rise office spaces, laboratory buildings, and secondary education campus community areas.

Customers received detailed recommendations on how to reduce energy waste by improving HVAC and lighting control sequences, repairing failed equipment, and other quick to implement measures. As the year draws to a close, Heapy Engineering is working with local contractors to implement measures estimated to yield 2,800,000 kWh in energy reduction, totaling nearly $350,000 in annual savings. Customers were rewarded with paybacks as low as two months, with the payback average at ten months (18% return on investment) across all projects combined. In addition, DP&L offers a healthy post-implementation incentive ($0.04/kWh for 2018) AND pays for 80% of the cost to complete a Retro-Commissioning Study.
